Echoplex - I just finished recording and mixing a band that used to be called Big Terrible but is now called nothing but might end up still being called Big Terrible. Their guitarist Dan brought an Echoplex Solid State tape echo for me to use. I hear these break a lot, but this one works. It sounds awesome. I used it on almost everything at one point or another- drums, guitars, vocals. It sounds so good distorted. I sent some vocals to it to distort them and then just moved the returned signal back to where the original vocals were. Sounded killer. It’s one of those delays you can really “perform” with. I would send an instrument playing a simple part to it and then manipulate the controls in real time to create new rhythms and sounds. Dan’s letting me borrow it for a little bit, I only had today to really get to know it!
